CHAPTER R18 CHIMNEYS AND VENTS Revise and replace section M1801.1 Venting required as follows: M1801.1 Venting required. Fuel-burning appliances shall be vented to the outdoors in accordance with their listing and label and manufacturer’s installation instructions except appliances listed and labeled for unvented use. Venting systems shall consist of approved chimneys or vents, or venting assemblies that are integral parts of labeled appliances. Add an Exception after M1801.11 Multiple-appliance venting systems Item #1 as follows: Item #1 - EXCEPTION: Engineered systems as provided for in Section G2427. Add an Exception to section M1801.12 Multiple solid fuel prohibited as follows: EXCEPTION: Unless common connection is allowed by 248 CMR or 527 CMR. If allowed, the common flue shall be of such size to serve all appliances connected if such appliances were operated simultaneously. Note that 248 CMR and 527 CMR are enforced by gas inspectors and the heads of fire departments, respectively.
