205 CMR 9.00 Injury reporting rules and regulations for greyhound racing

9.01 Definitions

9.01: Definitions Association Veterinarian. Veterinarian(s) in the employ of the association holding a greyhound racetrack license.

9.02 Duties of Association Veterinarian

9.02: Duties of Association Veterinarian (1) The association veterinarians shall provide accurate records of all injuries incurred by racing greyhounds while they are racing in the Commonwealth, including schooling races. These records shall be made on forms approved and provided by the Commission, and shall include: (a) The greyhound’s registered name and right and left ear tattoo numbers; (b) The owner, trainer and kennel operator’s name, business address, and telephone number; (c) The color, weight, and sex of the greyhound; (d) Where the injury took place on a race track or other area; (e) If the injuryoccurred while the greyhound was racing, the racetrack where the injury occurred, the distance, grade, race and postposition, weather conditions, time, temperature, track condition, the specific type of injury, estimated recovery time, and the location of the injury on the greyhound. (2 ) The association veterinarian shall provide copies of the injury reports to the Commissio n veterinarian in a timely manner.

9.03 Penalties for Violations

9.03: Penalties for Violations All injury reports shall be completed and signed under the pains and penalties of perjury by the association veterinarian whose signature shall be witness by a Commission veterinarian or inspector. Whoever knowingly makes a false written statement on an injury report shall be punished by imprisonment for up to two years and a fine of up to $2,500, or both such fine and imprisonment. A person found guilty of knowingly violating 205 CMR 9.03 for a second or subsequent offense shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than one, or more than five years, or a fine of not less than $5,000, or both such fine and imprisonment.

9.04 Maintenance of Records

9.04: Maintenance of Records All injury reports shall be maintained by the Commission for a period of seven years. REGULATO RY AUTHO RITY 205 CMR 9.00: M.G.L. c. 128A and St. 2001, c. 139.
