Ala. Admin. Code r. 356-X-7-.01 Guidance

(1) Guidance and counseling programs are an integral part of the educational program. Guidance services shall be provided to help students understand themselves and their world and to assist them in developing their intellectual, educational, vocational, and social skills to the fullest capacity.

(2) Confidentiality shall be observed in all counselor-student relations.

Ala. Admin. Code r. 356-X-7-.02 Dormitory - Staff Duties

(1) The house parent(s) shall be responsible for implementing and enforcing all rules, regulations and directives, printed or stated, established by the administration of the ASFA.

(2) The primary concern of the house parent(s) and all counselors is the physical and mental well being of the students under their management.

Ala. Admin. Code r. 356-X-7-.03 Food Service

(1) The ASFA operates a food service program as an auxiliary service to the educational program. The food service program shall be operated in such a manner as to provide attractive, nutritional meals for the maximum benefit of every child.

(2) The food service program shall operate as a nonprofit service to pupils, faculty and staff.

(3) Resident students are required to participate in one of the several food plans offered by the food service program.

(4) Exception to the use of a food plan for the resident student is given only when a licensed medical doctor issues a written statement that the ASFA food service program cannot comply with the specific dietary requirements as prescribed for medical reasons.

(5) Nonresident students are not required to participate in any food service program of the ASFA.

Ala. Admin. Code r. 356-X-7-.04 Student Opportunities

Equal educational opportunities for all students shall be provided by the ASFA without regard to race, religion, economic, or social conditions.

Ala. Admin. Code r. 356-X-7-.05 Student Involvement

(1) Students are encouraged to participate actively in the affairs of their school and community. To the greatest extent possible, students shall be provided with opportunities to assume leadership roles in the conduct of school affairs.

(2) Students elect a representative to the board of the parent-teacher-student organization.

(3) Students elect officers and conduct business through the student government association. The SGA is the official voice of the student body to the administration.

Ala. Admin. Code r. 356-X-7-.06 Student Behavior

(1) Student behavior in the ASFA shall be based on principles of respect and consideration for the rights of others. Students shall have access to all rules and regulations by which they shall abide. Violation of conduct rules may be cause for suspension or dismissal.

(2) The ASFA publishes a student handbook which is distributed to all students.

Ala. Admin. Code r. 356-X-7-.07 Relationship To ASFA Foundation

(1) ASFA is the direct beneficiary of the ASFA Foundation.

(2) The ASFA Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization which functions as a support instrument to the ASFA.

(3) The ASFA Foundation has the ability and capacity to provide goods and services to ASFA upon request.

(4) The ASFA Foundation is independent of the ASFA as an operating organization. The executive director is an ex officio, non-voting member of the ASFA Foundation Board of Directors.
