front door. The victim was staying in the bedroom on the opposite side of the house due to
fear that Ja’Kyre Turner would try to kill her if she tried to leave. The SPD officer elected
to enter into the home with the code, due to the possibility that Mr. Turner would further
harm the victim if he became aware of her trying to exit the residence.
When the SPD officer entered in to the home, he observed a baby sleeping in a pack in play
in the living room. The SPD officer woke Mr. Turner up and advised that he was being
detained.
The SPD officer then interviewed the victim. She advised that she has been in a relationship
with Mr. Turner since January 2025. She stated there were five children living in the home,
but they have no children in common. The victim stated that she was on her phone yesterday
and received a text message from one of her employees that they were quitting. Mr. Turner
saw the text, developed the impression that the victim was cheating with the employee. At
approximately 2200 hours, Mr. Turner picked up a black leather belt and folded it in his
hands. Mr. Turner got within inches of the victim’s face and said “you are cheating, he
grabbed your ass, you gave him head. You fucked him.” Mr. Turner struck her with the belt
on her arms and chest 5-6 times. He positioned himself between her and the doorway of the
bedroom, preventing her from getting away, and confining her to the bedroom. He grabbed
her by the hair and pulled her to the ground. After he hit her with the belt, he pushed her on
the bed by grabbing her throat with both hands. The offender strangled her for approximately
30 seconds, saying something like “I should fucking kill you. You’re lucky I don’t fucking
kill you.” The victim believed Mr. Turner was serious and would kill her by choking her to
death.
After strangling her, the offender told the victim to get in the shower with him. No sexual
assault occurred. After showering, he told her to lie in bed and rub his back. She did until
she heard him snore. Once she knew he was asleep, she got out of bed and locked herself in
a bedroom across the house.
The assault lasted for several hours, from 2200 to 0500. She has a security camera in the
living room that was recording during the incident. The camera did not capture the inside of
the bedroom, but contained audio of the argument.
The SPD officer observed the victim’s injuries: several fresh, inflamed red marks to the left
and right side of the neck. Multiple inflamed, raised red “U” shaped marks to both of her
arms and chest area. She described her throat as sore and was only able to whisper when
speaking. She had a headache from the strangulation. Photos were taken of her injuries.
Mr. Turner was taken into custody and charged with assault, unlawful imprisonment and
harassment. These charges are still pending.
