On 28 January 1993, the Swiss Federal Council formally recorded the result of the 6 December 1992 popular vote on the federal decree concerning the European Economic Area. It found that the proposal had been rejected both by the people and by the cantons. The decree also ordered publication of the decision and the detailed vote summary in the Federal Gazette.
Art. 15 of the Federal Act on Political Rights; formal constatation of the result of a popular vote by the Federal Council. The Federal Council, on the basis of the official voting records, merely determines and publishes the outcome of the referendum. It records separately the popular majority and the cantonal majority; if either majority is negative, the federal decree is rejected. The act has declaratory character and does not itself decide the substantive merits of the referendum proposal.

vu l'article 15 de la loi fédérale du 17 décembre 19761) sur les droits politiques; vu les procès-verbaux de la votation populaire du 6 décembre 1992,
arrête:
Article premier
Arrêté fédéral du 9 octobre 19922) sur l'Espace économique européen (EEE) L'arrêté fédéral a été rejeté par le peuple, par 1 786 708 non contre 1 762 872 oui, ainsi que par les cantons, par 144/2 non contre 632 oui (annexe).
Art. 2
Le présent arrêté ainsi que la récapitulation des résultats de la votation seront publiés dans la Feuille fédérale.
