Considérant:
que le 12 mai 2011, les recourants ont attaqué devant le Tribunal cantonal fribourgeois une décision du 11 avril 2011 concernant la récusation du Président du Tribunal civil de l'arrondissement de la Broye;
que le 20 août 2011, ils ont requis la récusation du tribunal cantonal in corpore;
que statuant en dépit de cette requête, le tribunal cantonal a rejeté le recours, dans la mesure de sa recevabilité, par arrêt du 17 février 2012;
que le présent recours pour déni de justice, assorti d'une requête de mesures provisionnelles visant à empêcher "d'autres actes préjudiciels" dans l'affaire en cause, est irrecevable faute d'intérêt digne de protection au sens de l'art. 76 al. 1 let. b LTF, car au moment où il a été déposé, le 1er mars 2012, le tribunal cantonal avait déjà mis fin à la procédure par son arrêt du 17 février 2012;
que les recourants ont la possibilité de recourir contre cet arrêt en faisant valoir que le tribunal cantonal a statué sans avoir préalablement décidé du sort de la demande de récusation;
qu'il convient donc, en procédure simplifiée selon l'art. 108 al. 1 let. a LTF, de ne pas entrer en matière;
que cela étant, la requête de mesures provisionnelles devient sans objet;
qu'en vertu de l'art. 66 al. 1 et 5 LTF, les frais judiciaires doivent être mis à la charge des recourants, solidairement entre eux;

par ces motifs, la Présidente prononce:

Le recours est irrecevable.

2.
Les frais judiciaires, arrêtés à 500 fr., sont mis à la charge des recourants, solidairement entre eux.

3.
Le présent arrêt est communiqué aux recourants et à la Ie Cour d'appel civil du Tribunal cantonal du canton de Fribourg.
