Considerando:
che con decreto del 31 agosto 2010 la II Camera civile del Tribunale d'appello del Cantone Ticino ha stralciato dai ruoli - per mancato pagamento dell'anticipo spese - gli appelli inoltrati da B.A.________ e A.A.________ contro la sentenza di sfratto emanata nei loro confronti dal Pretore della giurisdizione di Mendrisio Nord il 7 luglio precedente;
che con ricorso dell'8 settembre 2010 B.A.________ e A.A.________ hanno impugnato tale decreto dinanzi al Tribunale federale;
che il 10 settembre 2010 essi hanno comunicato al Tribunale federale "la rinuncia al contenzioso instaurato" con il ricorso, chiedendo altresì lo stralcio della causa dai ruoli;
che visto il ritiro del gravame la causa può venire stralciata dai ruoli, conformemente a quanto previsto dall'art. 32 cpv. 2 LTF;
che per le spese giudiziarie si rinvia all'art. 65 cpv. 1, 2 e 3 lett. b nonché all'art. 66 cpv. 2, 3 e 5 LTF;
per questi motivi, la Giudice unica decreta:

Si prende atto del ritiro del ricorso e la causa 4A_478/2010 è stralciata dai ruoli.
2.
Le spese giudiziarie di fr. 100.-- sono poste a carico dei ricorrenti, in solido.
3. Comunicazione ai ricorrenti, all'opponente e alla II Camera civile del Tribunale d'appello del Cantone Ticino.
