Requirements for the Calculation Procedures and Measuring Instruments

1 Calculation Procedures

¹The procedures used to calculate noise exposure levels must take account of: the emissions from the noise source of the installation; the distance between the exposure point and the noise source of the installation or the flight paths (attenuation due to propagation and dissipation); the influence of the ground on the propagation of the noise (ground effects); the influence of buildings and natural obstacles on the propagation of the noise (attenuation due to obstacles and reflection).

²The FOEN (FOEN) recommends suitable state-of-the-art calculation procedures to the enforcement authorities.

2 Measuring Instruments

The requirements of the Measuring Instruments Ordinance of 15 February 2006¹and the corresponding implementing provisions of the Federal Justice and Police Department apply to the instruments used to measure noise exposure levels.
