Requirements for the Calculation Procedures and Measuring Instruments

1 Calculation Procedures

1The procedures used to calculate noise exposure levels must take account of: the emissions from the noise source of the installation; the distance between the exposure point and the noise source of the installation or the flight paths (attenuation due to propagation and dissipation); the influence of the ground on the propagation of the noise (ground effects); the influence of buildings and natural obstacles on the propagation of the noise (attenuation due to obstacles and reflection).

2The FOEN (FOEN) recommends suitable state-of-the-art calculation procedures to the enforcement authorities.

2 Measuring Instruments

The requirements of the Measuring Instruments Ordinance of 15 February 20061and the corresponding implementing provisions of the Federal Justice and Police Department apply to the instruments used to measure noise exposure levels.
