Where a promise to pay is not designated as a promissory note in the text appearing on the instrument itself but is expressly made out to order and satisfies all the other requirements of a promissory note, it counts as a promissory note.
However, the provisions governing payment for honour do not apply to promises to pay to order.
The provisions of the Debt Collection and Bankruptcy Act of 11 April 1889governing the enforcement of bills of exchange do not apply to promises to pay to order.
