The holder of the bill of exchange is not obliged to accept payment before maturity.
The drawee pays before maturity at his own risk.
A person paying at maturity is released from his obligations provided he is not guilty of malice or gross negligence. He is obliged to check that the sequence of endorsements is correct but is not required to verify the signatures of the endorsers.
