An endorsement after maturity has the same effects as an endorsement prior to maturity. However, where the bill of exchange was endorsed only after protest for non-payment or after expiry of the time limit for protest, the endorsement only has the effects of a normal assignment.
Until the opposite is proven, it is presumed that an undated endorsement was made on the bill of exchange before the time limit for protest expired.
