The competent authorities may process biometric data for the purpose of establishing the identity of asylum seekers and persons in need of protection. 1bis. SEM may delegate the processing of biometric data to third parties. It shall verify the compliance by the third parties with the regulations on data protection and information security.¹
The Federal Council shall determine what biometric data is collected and regulate access to the data.
