At its 3 June 1993 sitting, the National Council considered Swisslex follow-up measures in insurance law. It entered into and adopted the committee-backed amendments to the Insurance Supervision Act and to the Act on security deposits of foreign insurance companies, both after approving the title, preamble and substantive provisions. It also unanimously endorsed the WAK-SR motion calling for an immediate revision of tariff control in motor vehicle liability insurance, to be undertaken separately from the broader insurance supervision reform.
Swisslex follow-up legislation; parliamentary approval of draft amendments and transmission of a motion. Where the Council enters into a bill without opposition and approves the committee proposal, the draft is adopted. A motion may be transmitted by unanimous vote, thereby requiring the Federal Council to prepare the requested legislative revision. No substantive judicial review is involved; the act records legislative disposition within the bicameral procedure.
