In an accident insurance dispute concerning spinal injury, low back pain and depression, the court refused to recognize an adequate causal link between the accident and the psychological disorders. It held that the accident itself was not the triggering factor for the psychic condition. The claim was therefore rejected under Art. 6 para. 1 LAA.

Art. 6 para. 1 LAA; adequate causal link for psychological sequelae after an accident. The requirement of adequate causation is not met where, on the facts, the accident itself cannot be regarded as the triggering event for the insured person's psychical complaints. The assessment depends on the concrete significance of the accident in the genesis of the psychic disorder; the mere temporal sequence or the existence of somatic injuries such as spinal lesions and lumbago is insufficient where the accident did not act as a relevant precipitating cause.
