A party who must expect judicial service to be effected bears the consequences of non-collection of a duly notified registered mailing. Court costs are charged to the unsuccessful appellant pursuant to Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG.

Der Einzelrichter zieht in Erwägung:

Der Beschwerdeführer wurde mit Verfügung vom 7. Dezember 2011 aufgefordert, dem Bundesgericht spätestens am 9. Januar 2012 einen Kostenvorschuss von Fr. 2'000.-- einzuzahlen. Obwohl er die Verfügung in Empfang nahm, reagierte er nicht. Am 13. Januar 2012 wurde ihm die gesetzlich vorgeschriebene Nachfrist zur Zahlung des Vorschusses bis zum 3. Februar 2012 angesetzt, ansonsten auf das Rechtsmittel nicht eingetreten werde. Diese Verfügung holte der Beschwerdeführer auf der Post nicht ab. Da er indessen dafür besorgt sein musste, dass ihm gerichtliche Sendungen zugestellt werden können, gilt die Verfügung als zugestellt. Sie wurde ihm im Übrigen auch noch mit A-Post zugesandt. Der Kostenvorschuss ging innert Frist nicht ein. Folglich ist auf die Beschwerde androhungsgemäss im Verfahren nach Art. 108 BGG nicht einzutreten.

Die Gerichtskosten sind dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen (Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG).

Demnach erkennt der Einzelrichter:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.

2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 800.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.

3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Obergericht des Kantons Zürich, III. Strafkammer, schriftlich mitgeteilt.
