Der Einzelrichter zieht in Erwägung:

Die Partei, die das Bundesgericht anruft, hat einen Kostenvorschuss in der Höhe der mutmasslichen Gerichtskosten zu leisten (Art. 62 Abs. 1 Satz 1 BGG). Der Beschwerdeführer ist damit zwar nicht einverstanden (act. 5), aber es ist nicht ersichtlich, dass besondere Gründe im Sinne von Art. 62 Abs. 1 Satz 2 BGG vorlägen, um auf den Vorschuss zu verzichten. Dem Beschwerdeführer wurden deshalb mit Verfügungen vom 16. Mai 2008 und 18. Juni 2008 eine Frist bis 6. Juni 2008 bzw. die in Art. 62 Abs. 3 BGG vorgeschriebene Nachfrist bis 9. Juli 2008 angesetzt, dem Bundesgericht einen Kostenvorschuss von Fr. 2'000.-- einzuzahlen, ansonsten auf das Rechtsmittel nicht eingetreten werde. Der Kostenvorschuss wurde nicht geleistet. Auf die Beschwerde ist deshalb androhungsgemäss im Verfahren nach Art. 108 BGG nicht einzutreten.

Die Gerichtskosten sind dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen (Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG).
Demnach erkennt der Einzelrichter:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.
2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 800.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.
3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Obergericht des Kantons Zürich, III. Strafkammer, schriftlich mitgeteilt.

No. Because the advance on costs was not paid within the time limit, the Court would not enter into the appeal.
Under Art. 62 BGG, an advance on costs is generally required; no special reasons justified waiver, and the warning under Art. 62(3) BGG was ignored. Therefore non-entry followed under Art. 108 BGG.
Allocation of court costs.
The court costs were imposed on the appellant.
As the appeal was not entered into, costs followed the outcome under Art. 66(1) BGG.
