The appellant withdrew its federal appeal concerning legal aid in bankruptcy proceedings by letter of 21 December 2009. The President of the II. Civil Law Division therefore struck the case from the list. The pending request for free legal assistance and counsel became moot. Court costs of CHF 200 were charged to the appellant.

Dezember 2009 sinngemäss zurückgezogen hat, die Beschwerde daher durch die Abteilungspräsidentin (Art. 32 Abs. 2 BGG) abzuschreiben ist (Art. 71 BGG i.V.m. Art. 73 BZP), das Gesuch des Beschwerdeführers um unentgeltliche Rechtspflege und Verbeiständung gegenstandslos wird und die bundesgerichtlichen Kosten dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen sind (Art. 71 BGG i.V.m. Art. 5 Abs. 2 BZP, Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG),
verfügt die Präsidentin:

Das Verfahren wird als durch Rückzug der Beschwerde erledigt abgeschrieben.
2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 200.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.
3.
Diese Verfügung wird den Parteien schriftlich mitgeteilt.

Whether the appeal should be dismissed as withdrawn
The proceedings were struck from the docket because the appellant effectively withdrew the appeal.
Once the appeal had been withdrawn, the Abteilungspräsidentin could close the case under the applicable procedural rules.

The request became moot after the withdrawal of the appeal.
Without a live appeal, the legal-aid request no longer had an object.
