In an employment case, the Federal Supreme Court held that the civil appeal was out of time. The cantonally challenged decision had been served on 2012-03-14, while the appeal was only posted on 2012-05-12. Even accounting for the judicial vacation period, the appeal deadline expired on 2012-04-30. The court therefore entered no appeal, imposed CHF 500 in court costs on the appellant, and denied any party compensation to the respondent.

Judicial vacations suspend the running of the deadline in the cases provided by law. If the appeal is filed after expiry, the Court does not enter into the matter under Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG. The losing appellant bears the court costs, while party compensation is excluded where the respondent incurred no compensable expense (consid. 1).

Die Präsidentin hat in Erwägung,
dass die Beschwerdeführerin gegen den Nichteintretensentscheid des Obergerichts des Kantons Bern vom 9. März 2012 mit Eingabe vom 12. Mai 2012 Beschwerde in Zivilsachen erhob;
dass eine Beschwerde beim Bundesgericht innerhalb von 30 Tagen nach der Eröffnung der vollständigen Ausfertigung des angefochtenen Entscheids beim Bundesgericht erhoben werden muss (Art. 100 Abs. 1 und Art. 117 BGG);
dass nach Art. 44 Abs. 1 BGG Fristen, die durch eine Mitteilung oder den Eintritt eines Ereignisses ausgelöst werden, am folgenden Tag zu laufen beginnen und dass die Frist eingehalten ist, wenn die Eingabe am letzten Tag der Frist der Post übergeben wird (Art. 48 Abs. 1 BGG);
dass der angefochtene Entscheid der Beschwerdeführerin gemäss den kantonalen Akten am 14. März 2012 zugestellt wurde;
dass die vorliegende Beschwerdeschrift am 12. Mai 2012 der Post übergeben wurde und damit die Beschwerdefrist, die unter Berücksichtigung der Gerichtsferien (Art. 46 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG) am 30. April 2012 ablief, offensichtlich nicht eingehalten ist;
dass demnach auf die Beschwerde nicht einzutreten ist;
dass die Gerichtskosten der Beschwerdeführerin aufzuerlegen sind (Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG);
dass der Beschwerdegegnerin keine Parteientschädigung zuzusprechen ist, da ihr im Zusammenhang mit dem bundesgerichtlichen Verfahren kein Aufwand erwachsen ist (Art. 68 Abs. 1 BGG);
im Verfahren nach Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG erkannt:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.
2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 500.-- werden der Beschwerdeführerin auferlegt.
3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Obergericht des Kantons Bern, Zivilabteilung, 2. Zivilkammer, schriftlich mitgeteilt.
