The Swiss Federal Supreme Court held that the appellant’s filing did not satisfy the requirement to explain, by reference to the reasoning of the cantonal judgment, which rights had been violated. Because the submission lacked an adequate substantiation of any constitutional complaint, the Court did not enter into the appeal. It also refused the request for free legal representation because the appeal was hopeless, and it ordered court costs of CHF 500 against the appellant.

Constitutional rights are examined only if expressly invoked and reasoned. Failing such reasoning, the Court does not enter into the matter. A request for free legal aid and appointed counsel is to be refused where the remedy has no prospects of success (consid. 1-3).

In Erwägung,
dass das Kantonsgericht Schaffhausen die vom Beschwerdeführer gegen den Beschwerdegegner erhobene Klage auf Zahlung von Fr. 127'619.70 nebst Zins mit Urteil vom 15. April 2008 abwies;
dass der Beschwerdeführer dieses Urteil mit Berufung anfocht, die vom Obergericht des Kantons Schaffhausen mit Urteil vom 17. April 2009 abgewiesen wurde;
dass der Beschwerdeführer dem Bundesgericht eine vom 22. Mai 2009 datierte Eingabe einreichte, aus der abgeleitet werden kann, dass er das Urteil des Obergerichts beim Bundesgericht anfechten will;
dass in einer Beschwerde an das Bundesgericht unter Bezugnahme auf die Erwägungen des angefochtenen Entscheides dargelegt werden muss, welche Rechte der beschwerdeführenden Partei durch das kantonale Gericht verletzt worden sind (Art. 42 Abs. 2 BGG), wobei eine allfällige Verletzung der bundesrechtlichen Verfassungsrechte vom Bundesgericht nicht von Amtes wegen geprüft wird, sondern nur dann, wenn entsprechende Rügen in der Beschwerdeschrift ausdrücklich erhoben und begründet werden (Art. 106 Abs. 2 BGG);
dass die Eingabe des Beschwerdeführers vom 22. Mai 2009 diese Anforderungen offensichtlich nicht erfüllt, weshalb auf die Beschwerde mangels hinreichender Begründung nicht einzutreten ist (Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. b BGG);
dass das sinngemässe Gesuch um Beiordnung eines unentgeltlichen Rechtsbeistandes wegen Aussichtslosigkeit der Beschwerde abzuweisen ist (Art. 64 Abs. 1 BGG);
dass die Gerichtskosten dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen sind (Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG);
erkennt die Präsidentin:

Das Gesuch um Beiordnung eines unentgeltlichen Rechtsbeistandes wird abgewiesen.
2.
Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.
3.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 500.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.
4.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Obergericht des Kantons Schaffhausen schriftlich mitgeteilt.
