The appellant withdrew its appeal against the Basel-Stadt appellate court judgment of 2 February 2009. The Federal Supreme Court therefore struck the case off the docket under Art. 32 para. 2 BGG. It imposed reduced court costs of CHF 500 on the appellant and ordered it to pay the respondent CHF 600 for the costs caused by the federal proceedings. The order was issued by the President of the First Civil Law Division.

dass die Beschwerdeführerin die Beschwerde gegen das Urteil des Appellationsgerichts des Kantons Basel-Stadt vom 2. Februar 2009 mit Schreiben vom 23. Oktober 2011 zurückgezogen hat;
dass das bundesgerichtliche Verfahren damit im Verfahren nach Art. 32 Abs. 2 BGG abgeschrieben werden kann;
dass die reduzierten Gerichtskosten der Beschwerdeführerin aufzuerlegen sind (Art. 66 Abs. 2 und 3 BGG);
dass die Beschwerdeführerin die Beschwerdegegnerin für den durch das bundesgerichtliche Verfahren verursachten Aufwand zu entschädigen hat (Art. 66 Abs. 3 in Verbindung mit Art. 68 Abs. 4 BGG);
verfügt die Präsidentin:

Das Verfahren wird infolge Rückzugs der Beschwerde abgeschrieben.
2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 500.-- werden der Beschwerdeführerin auferlegt.
3.
Die Beschwerdeführerin hat die Beschwerdegegnerin für das bundesgerichtliche Verfahren mit Fr. 600.-- zu entschädigen.
4.
Diese Verfügung wird den Parteien, dem Appellationsgericht des Kantons Basel-Stadt, Ausschuss, und dem Konkursamt Basel-Stadt schriftlich mitgeteilt.

The proceedings were discontinued and struck out following the withdrawal of the appeal.
Under Art. 32 para. 2 BGG, the Federal Supreme Court may remove the case from the docket when the appeal is withdrawn.
Allocation of reduced court costs after withdrawal
Reduced court costs of CHF 500 were imposed on the appellant.
The withdrawing appellant bears the reduced court costs pursuant to Art. 66 paras. 2 and 3 BGG.
Compensation for the respondent’s costs in the federal proceedings
The appellant was ordered to pay CHF 600 to the respondent as compensation.
The appellant must compensate the respondent for the expenses caused by the federal proceedings under Art. 66 para. 3 in conjunction with Art. 68 para. 4 BGG.
