The appellants withdrew their appeal against the Bern Administrative Court judgment of 21 August 2009. The Federal Supreme Court therefore ordered the case removed from the docket as withdrawn and waived court costs for the federal proceedings. The order was communicated to the appellants, the municipality of Köniz, the cantonal justice and municipal directorate, and the cantonal administrative court.

dass es sich rechtfertigt, für das bundesgerichtliche Verfahren keine Kosten zu erheben;
wird verfügt:

Die Beschwerde im Verfahren 1C_480/2009 wird als durch Rückzug erledigt abgeschrieben.
2.
Es werden keine Kosten erhoben.
3.
Diese Verfügung wird den Beschwerdeführern, der Einwohnergemeinde Köniz, der Justiz-, Gemeinde- und Kirchendirektion des Kantons Bern, sowie dem Verwaltungsgericht des Kantons Bern schriftlich mitgeteilt.
