The Federal Assembly, sitting in joint chambers, announced parliamentary replacements in the National Council and Council of States and elected Alain Wurzburger as substitute federal judge for the rest of the administrative term. Theo Fischer entered the National Council replacing Josi Meier, and Josi Meier entered the Council of States replacing Alphons Egli.
