At its joint session on 29 September 1982, the Federal Assembly elected Martin Schubarth, professor and doctor of law in Basel, as Federal Judge for the remainder of the administrative period. The notice also records that the autumn session was closed on 8 October 1982.

The Assembly, sitting in joint chambers, may elect a Federal Judge by parliamentary vote for the unexpired part of the administrative term; the decision is a constitutive appointment act rather than a contentious judgment.
