The Federal Supreme Court did not enter into the appellant’s disability insurance appeal because he failed to pay the court advance even after being granted an additional deadline. The court applied the non-entry mechanism in simplified procedure and, exceptionally, waived court costs. The cantonal judgment of the Basel-Stadt Social Insurance Court therefore remained untouched.
Art. 62 Abs. 3 BGG; Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG; non-payment of the court advance after the setting and expiry of an additional deadline leads to non-entry in simplified procedure. The decisive precondition is the applicant’s failure to comply with the advance-payment order despite warning; once this is established, the appeal cannot be examined on the merits. Under Art. 66 Abs. 1 sentence 2 BGG, the court may exceptionally waive costs in view of the circumstances.

in die Verfügung vom 12. November 2010, mit welcher A.________ zur Bezahlung eines Kostenvorschusses innert 14 Tagen aufgefordert wurde,
in die Verfügung vom 14. Dezember 2010, mit welcher A.________ zur Bezahlung eines Kostenvorschusses innert einer Nachfrist bis zum 11. Januar 2011 verpflichtet wurde, ansonsten auf das Rechtsmittel nicht eingetreten werde,
in Erwägung,
dass der Beschwerdeführer den Vorschuss auch innerhalb der Nachfrist nicht geleistet hat,
dass deshalb gestützt auf Art. 62 Abs. 3 BGG im vereinfachten Verfahren nach Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG auf die Beschwerde nicht einzutreten ist und in Anwendung von Art. 66 Abs. 1 Satz 2 BGG umständehalber auf die Erhebung von Gerichtskosten verzichtet wird,
erkennt der Präsident:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.
2.
Es werden keine Gerichtskosten erhoben.
3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien, dem Sozialversicherungsgericht Basel-Stadt und dem Bundesamt für Sozialversicherungen schriftlich mitgeteilt.
