The appellants challenged a Basel-Stadt administrative judgment before the Federal Supreme Court. After their request for free legal aid was refused and they were ordered to pay an advance on costs, they still failed to pay within the extended deadline. The President therefore did not enter into the appeal in simplified proceedings and ordered the appellants to pay court costs of CHF 300.
Art. 62 Abs. 3 BGG, Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG; non-payment of the advance on costs after expiry of the original and extended deadlines entails non-entry on the appeal in simplified proceedings. Where the prerequisites for entry are not met because the advance on costs remains unpaid, the Court may decide without further exchange of submissions. The appellant bears the court costs pursuant to Art. 66 Abs. 1 and 3 BGG.

in die Verfügung vom 1. Mai 2012, mit welcher das Gesuch um Gewährung der unentgeltlichen Rechtspflege für das bundesgerichtliche Verfahren wegen Aussichtslosigkeit abgewiesen und den Beschwerdeführern zur Bezahlung eines Kostenvorschusses eine Frist angesetzt wurde,
in die Verfügung vom 18. Mai 2012, mit welcher A.________ und G.________ auf ihr Ersuchen hin vom 15. Mai 2012 zur Bezahlung eines Kostenvorschusses innert einer Nachfrist bis zum 25. Juni 2012 verpflichtet wurden, ansonsten auf das Rechtsmittel nicht eingetreten werde,
in Erwägung,
dass die Beschwerdeführer den Vorschuss auch innerhalb der Nachfrist nicht geleistet haben,
dass deshalb gestützt auf Art. 62 Abs. 3 BGG im vereinfachten Verfahren nach Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG auf die Beschwerde nicht einzutreten ist und die Beschwerdeführer nach Art. 66 Abs. 1 und 3 BGG kostenpflichtig werden,
erkennt der Präsident:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.
2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 300.- werden den Beschwerdeführern auferlegt.
3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Appellationsgericht des Kantons Basel-Stadt als Verwaltungsgericht schriftlich mitgeteilt.

No. Because the advance costs were not paid even after the grace period, the Court could not enter into the appeal.
Under Art. 62(3) BGG, failure to pay the advance costs within the set period, including the additional deadline, leads to non-entry in the simplified procedure under Art. 108(1)(a) BGG.
Allocation of court costs after non-entry.
The appellants must bear the court costs.
As the appeal was not entered into, the appellants became liable for costs under Art. 66(1) and (3) BGG.
