If the complaint manifestly lacks such substantiation, the Court may decline to enter into it in summary procedure under Art. 108 BGG; the costs are borne by the unsuccessful party under Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG.

Erwägungen:

Die Beschwerde richtet sich gegen den Zirkulationsbeschluss des Obergerichts des Kantons Zürich vom 24. Februar 2009, mit welchem das obergerichtliche Verfahren als durch Rückzug erledigt abgeschrieben wurde, weil der Beschwerdeführer, der mit Eingabe vom 13. Oktober 2008 gegen das erstinstanzliche Urteil vom 22. August 2008 fristgerecht Berufung eingelegt hatte, es schuldhaft versäumt habe, die Berufungsanträge innert der ihm angesetzten Frist abschliessend zu stellen und zu begründen (vgl. angefochtenen Entscheid, S. 2, mit Hinweis auf kantonale Akten, Urkunde 36). In seiner Beschwerde vor Bundesgericht begnügt sich der Beschwerdeführer damit, auf seine Eingabe vom 13. Oktober 2008 zu verweisen und zu behaupten, diese enthalte einen Antrag und eine aussagekräftige Begründung. Damit fehlt es der Beschwerde an einer für die materielle Beurteilung des Rechtsmittels hinreichenden Begründung (Art. 42 Abs. 2 und Art. 106 Abs. 1 BGG). Es ergibt sich aus ihr nicht einmal ansatzweise, dass und inwiefern das Obergericht schweizerisches Recht im Sinne von Art. 95 BGG verletzt bzw. kantonales Strafprozessrecht willkürlich angewendet haben könnte. Auf die Beschwerde ist daher im Verfahren nach Art. 108 BGG nicht einzutreten.

Die Gerichtskosten sind dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen (Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG).
Demnach erkennt der Einzelrichter:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.
2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 800.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.
3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Obergericht des Kantons Zürich, I. Strafkammer, schriftlich mitgeteilt.

Whether the Federal Supreme Court could examine the complaint despite the appellant's limited reasoning.
The complaint did not meet the substantiation requirements and therefore could not be examined on the merits.
The filing merely referred to the appellant's prior submission and did not show, even in outline, how the High Court violated federal law or arbitrarily applied cantonal criminal procedure law.
