The appellant challenged a Vaud cantonal decision concerning a declaration of non-return to better fortune. The Federal Supreme Court had previously granted an initial and then an additional deadline to pay the CHF 6,000 advance on costs. The court registry confirmed that the amount was neither paid nor credited, and no proof of timely debit was produced. The court therefore held the appeal inadmissible, charged the appellant with CHF 500 in judicial costs, and denied party compensation to the respondent.
Art. 62 al. 3, Art. 48 al. 4 and Art. 108 al. 1 let. a LTF; inadmissibility for non-payment of the advance on costs. If the appellant fails to pay the advance within the set or extended time limit, and no timely debit proof is produced, the Federal Supreme Court must not enter into the appeal. The consequence is inadmissibility ex officio, with judicial costs borne by the appellant pursuant to Art. 66 al. 1 LTF. Where the respondent merely leaves the matter to the court and does not substantively contest the ancillary request, no party compensation is due under Art. 68 al. 1 LTF (consid. related to the formal prerequisite).

Vu:
l'ordonnance présidentielle du 15 avril 2008 fixant à la recourante un délai au 30 avril 2008 pour effectuer une avance de frais de 6'000 fr., conformément à l'art. 62 LTF;
l'ordonnance présidentielle du 9 mai 2008 accordant à la recourante un délai supplémentaire de 15 jours pour payer l'avance de frais, conformément à l'art. 62 al. 3 LTF;
l'avis de la Caisse du Tribunal fédéral du 9 juin 2008, constatant que l'avance de frais n'a été ni payée ni créditée sur son compte postal et qu'aucune attestation de débit d'un compte postal ou bancaire correspondant au montant exigé n'a été fournie dans les 10 jours dès l'échéance du délai supplémentaire;
considérant:
que l'avance de frais n'ayant pas été versée dans le délai imparti (art. 48 al. 4 LTF), le recours doit être déclaré irrecevable (art.62 al. 3 LTF), aux frais de son auteur (art. 66 al. 1 LTF);
que l'intimée, invitée à se déterminer sur la requête d'effet suspensif, s'étant bornée à s'en remettre à justice sur ce point, il n'y a pas lieu de lui allouer des dépens (art. 68 al. 1 LTF);
par ces motifs, vu l'art. 108 al. 1 let. a LTF, le Président prononce:

Le recours est irrecevable.
2.
Les frais judiciaires, arrêtés à 500 fr., sont mis à la charge de la recourante.
3.
Il n'est pas alloué de dépens.
4.
Le présent arrêt est communiqué aux parties et à la Chambre des recours du Tribunal cantonal du canton de Vaud.
