The appellant withdrew his civil appeal against the Basel-Stadt Appellationsgericht judgment after his request for legal aid had already been denied and an advance on costs ordered. The Federal Supreme Court therefore discontinued the proceedings as withdrawn, imposed reduced court costs of CHF 500 on the appellant, and denied the respondent any party compensation.
Art. 32 Abs. 2 BGG; withdrawal of an appeal leads to discontinuance by single judge. In such a case, the court may issue a summary order striking the case off the docket. Reduced court costs may be charged to the appellant under Art. 66 Abs. 2 and 3 BGG; a party compensation to the respondent is not warranted absent special circumstances.

In Erwägung,
dass der Beschwerdeführer den Entscheid des Appellationsgerichts des Kantons Basel-Stadt vom 27. August 2013 mit Beschwerde in Zivilsachen anfocht und gleichzeitig ein Gesuch um unentgeltliche Rechtspflege stellte;
dass dieses Gesuch mit Verfügung vom 21. November 2013 abgewiesen und der Beschwerdeführer zur Zahlung eines Kostenvorschusses von Fr. 2'000.-- bis spätestens 10. Dezember 2013 aufgefordert wurde;
dass der Beschwerdeführer mit Schreiben vom 26. November 2013 mitteilte, er ziehe die Beschwerde zurück;
dass das bundesgerichtliche Verfahren damit gemäss Art. 32 Abs. 2 BGG durch die Instruktionsrichterin als Einzelrichterin abzuschreiben ist;
dass die reduzierten Gerichtskosten dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen sind (Art. 66 Abs. 2 und 3 BGG);
dass der Beschwerdegegnerin keine Parteientschädigung zuzusprechen ist;
Das Verfahren wird infolge Rückzugs der Beschwerde abgeschrieben.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 500.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.
Der Beschwerdegegnerin wird keine Parteientschädigung zugesprochen.
Diese Verfügung wird den Parteien und dem Appellationsgericht des Kantons Basel-Stadt schriftlich mitgeteilt.

The proceedings were struck from the docket because the appeal had been withdrawn.
Once the appellant notified withdrawal of the appeal, the Federal Supreme Court discontinued the case under Art. 32(2) BGG by single-judge order.
