The Federal Supreme Court noted that the appellant withdrew his public law appeal against the cantonal decision concerning driver’s license withdrawal. The proceedings were therefore struck off. The Court ordered the appellant to pay court costs of CHF 500 under Art. 66 BGG. The order was notified to the appellant, the Lucerne road traffic office, the cantonal administrative division, and the Federal Roads Office.
Art. 66 BGG; withdrawal of appeal and allocation of costs: where the appellant withdraws a public law appeal, the proceedings are discontinued and struck off. In such circumstances, court costs are ordinarily borne by the appellant, absent special reasons to depart from the statutory cost rule (consid. 1).

dass der Beschwerdeführer mit Schreiben vom 7. April 2009 seine Beschwerde vom 21. Januar 2009 zurückgezogen hat;
dass das Beschwerdeverfahren somit als durch Beschwerderückzug erledigt abzuschreiben ist;
dass der Beschwerdeführer die Gerichtskosten zu tragen hat (Art. 66 BGG);
verfügt der Präsident:

Das Verfahren 1C_28/2009 wird infolge Rückzugs der Beschwerde abgeschrieben.
2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 500.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.

Diese Verfügung wird dem Beschwerdeführer, dem Strassenverkehrsamt und dem Verwaltungsgericht des Kantons Luzern, Abgaberechtliche Abteilung, sowie dem Bundesamt für Strassen schriftlich mitgeteilt.
