The appellant withdrew his complaint of 6 June 2012 challenging a decision on court fees in criminal proceedings. The President of the First Public Law Division of the Federal Supreme Court therefore struck the case from the docket as concluded by withdrawal and waived court costs for the federal proceedings. The order was communicated to the appellant and to the President of the Cantonal Accusation Chamber of St. Gallen.
Withdrawal of an appeal or complaint terminates the federal proceedings without a merits determination; in such a case, the court may waive costs where the circumstances so justify. The withdrawal leads to dismissal from the docket (consid. 1), and the allocation of costs remains subject to the court's discretionary assessment in light of the procedural posture and the reasons for termination (consid. 2).
