September 1998 haben auch die verwaltungsrechtliche Beschlagnahme sowie die Frage der Aufbewahrung von Waffen, wesentlichen Waffenbestandteilen, Waffenzubehör, Munition und Munitionsbestandteilen (nachfolgend zusammengefasst: Waffen) eine gesamtschweizerische allgemeine Regelung erfahren. Art. 31 Abs. 1 WG sieht vor, dass die zuständige Behörde Waffen aus dem Besitz von jenen Personen beschlagnahmt, die diese entweder ohne Berechtigung tragen (lit. a) oder bei denen ein Hinderungsgrund nach Art. 8 Abs. 2 WG vorliegt (lit. b).
