Ala. Admin. Code r. 305-4-2-.01 Objective

The Law Enforcement Planning Division's objective is to provide needed funds to state and local units of government, as well as private nonprofit agencies to formulate and implement a Comprehensive Juvenile Justice Plan. These funds are supplied, to the extent feasible and possible, as an aid in helping these agencies carry out their respective responsibilities toward the implementation of this plan.

Ala. Admin. Code r. 305-4-2-.02 Application For Federal Funds

In order to be considered for these funds, these agencies must file with the Division an application. This application (copy attached) sets forth certain rules and guidelines which are required to set out in the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as amended December 8, 1980. These guidelines must be followed in order to be eligible to receive federal funds under the Act.

Ala. Admin. Code r. 305-4-2-.03 Application Approval

The application is processed on the state and local levels and submitted to the Law Enforcement Planning Division which, in turn, checks for compliance and correctness under the guidelines established by the Act and Guideline Manual of the U. S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Assistance, Research and Statistics (OJARS) M7100.1B. After staff review, it is taken before the Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee for approval or otherwise, as set out in Executive Order No. 5, referred to earlier, and the Act.
