Attorney Malita Barrett (P 43238) failed to respond to this Court’s June 8, 2026 order
directing her to show cause in writing why she failed to timely file adequate briefs in Docket Nos. 375819,
378699, 379403, 378455, 379688, and 379807.
Accordingly, Attorney Barrett is SANCTIONED in the amount of $500, payable to the
Clerk of this Court within 21 days of the certification of this order. Further, we direct the Clerk of this
Court to transmit copies of this order and the June 8, 2026 order to the Attorney Grievance Commission
for possible investigation.
These matters are REMANDED to the trial court for the appointment of substitute counsel,
current counsel having failed to timely file the briefs on appeal and having failed to respond to this Court’s
show-cause order.
A copy of this order shall be sent to the Wayne County Circuit Court Chief Judge.
