This matter having been remanded to this Court by the Michigan Supreme Court, we
REMAND this case to the trial court for further proceedings. By the Supreme Court’s order, In re
Paul/Blanding-Carter, ___ Mich ___; 34 NW3d 860 (2026), this Court must determine if reasonable
efforts were made by petitioner, Department of Health and Humans Services, to reunite respondent-
appellant, Jamesha Michelle Blanding, with the children before her parental rights were terminated.
Although the trial court indicated on the order terminating parental rights that reasonable efforts were
made by petitioner to reunite the family, the trial court failed to make any findings of fact or conclusions
of law on the record regarding whether petitioner offered respondent-appellant reasonable reunification
services. We direct the trial court to supplement the record with its findings and conclusions on the
reasonable efforts made by petitioner to reunite respondent-appellant with the children. The trial court
may also consider additional evidence on this issue, if deemed necessary.
We retain jurisdiction. The proceedings on remand are limited to the issue of reasonable
reunification efforts involving respondent-appellant only. The parties shall serve on this Court copies of
any supplemental filings in the trial court. The trial court shall expedite its consideration of this case and
the entire transcript of proceedings on remand shall be filed in the trial court and this Court within 21 days
after completion of the proceedings.
We DENY the lawyer-guardian ad litem’s motion to resolve the issue of whether
reasonable efforts were made in this case on the parties’ filings in the Supreme Court as moot.
