Court of Appeals, State of Michigan
ORDER
WEST MICHIGAN PARTNERSHIP FOR CHILDREN V DHHS
Docket No. 379707
LC No. 25-000164-MZ
Stephen L. Borrello, Chief Judge Pro Tem, acting under MCR 7.211(E)(2), orders:
The motion to file an amicus curiae brief on behalf of Lauren VanKeulen is DENIED. The
proposed amicus curiae brief includes no citation to legal authority. Rather, it consists largely of factual
assertions by Ms. VanKeulen that it is apparent are not part of the record in this case. See, e.g., Sherman
v Sea Ray Boats, 251 Mich App 41, 56; 649 NW2d 783 (2002) (this Court’s “review is limited to the
record established by the trial court”). While it appears evident that Ms. VanKeulen is motivated by an
admirable concern for the well-being of children the proffered amicus brief cannot reasonably be
considered an appropriate legal brief regarding the issues raised on appeal.
