The President of the Pretura penale granted the convicted person's request to pay CHF 1,700, corresponding to the fine, court fee and judicial costs imposed by an earlier criminal decree, in eight monthly instalments. The first instalment was set due by 31 January 2004. The court relied on Art. 347 CPP and noted that the file showed the debtor could not pay the amount in a single payment.

The judge of the Pretura penale is competent to authorize payment in instalments and to determine the amount and due dates.
