In an invalidity insurance appeal to the Federal Supreme Court, the appellant withdrew his appeal by letter of May 26, 2008. The President of the First Social Law Division therefore ordered the proceedings struck out and imposed court costs of CHF 200 on the appellant. The decision was issued in written proceedings and notified to the parties, the cantonal court, the compensation office, and the Federal Office for Social Insurance.
Art. 71 BGG in conjunction with Art. 73 Abs. 1 BZP and Art. 32 Abs. 2 BGG; withdrawal of appeal and discontinuance of proceedings. If an appeal is withdrawn, the Federal Supreme Court strikes the case from the docket by order. Pursuant to Art. 66 Abs. 1 and 3 BGG, the withdrawing appellant is generally liable for the court costs; the amount may be fixed summarily in the order (consid. 1).

dass die Beschwerde gemäss Art. 71 BGG in Verbindung mit Art. 73 Abs. 1 BZP im Verfahren nach Art. 32 Abs. 2 BGG abzuschreiben ist und der Beschwerdeführer nach Art. 66 Abs. 1 und 3 BGG kostenpflichtig wird,
verfügt der Präsident:

Das Verfahren wird infolge Rückzugs der Beschwerde abgeschrieben.
2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 200.- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.

Diese Verfügung wird den Parteien, dem Verwaltungsgericht des Kantons Luzern, Sozialversicherungsrechtliche Abteilung, der Ausgleichskasse der Schweizer Maschinenindustrie und dem Bundesamt für Sozialversicherungen schriftlich mitgeteilt.
