Der Einzelrichter zieht in Erwägung:

Im angefochtenen Entscheid wurde ein Begehren um Wiederherstellung einer Frist abgewiesen, weil der Beschwerdeführer nicht glaubhaft zu machen vermochte, dass er schuldlos ausserstande war, innert der Frist zu handeln. Mit dieser Frage befasst er sich in seinen beiden Eingaben vor Bundesgericht nicht. Dass er es "sehr schade" findet, dass die Vorinstanz auf sein Anliegen nicht eingegangen ist (act. 2 S. 1 unten), genügt als Begründung der Beschwerde nicht, weil sich daraus nicht ergibt, inwieweit der angefochtene Entscheid nach Ansicht des Beschwerdeführers gegen das Recht verstossen soll (Art. 42 Abs. 2 bzw. Art. 106 Abs. 2 BGG). Seine übrigen Ausführungen, die die materielle Seite der Angelegenheit betreffen, können nicht gehört werden, weil sich die Vorinstanz damit nicht befasst hat. Auf die Beschwerde ist im Verfahren nach Art. 108 BGG nicht einzutreten.

Die Gerichtskosten sind dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen (Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG).

Demnach erkennt der Einzelrichter:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.

2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 800.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.

3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Kantonsgericht St. Gallen, Strafkammer, schriftlich mitgeteilt.
