Der Einzelrichter zieht in Erwägung:

Das Obergericht des Kantons Solothurn trat mit Beschluss vom 2. Mai 2012 auf die Berufung des Beschwerdeführers nicht ein, weil er keine Berufungserklärung eingereicht hatte. Mit dieser einzig zulässigen Frage befasst sich der Beschwerdeführer vor Bundesgericht nicht. Er setzt sich in seiner Eingabe nur mit der materiellen Seite der Angelegenheit auseinander (vgl. act. 1). Diese kann indessen zum heutigen Zeitpunkt nicht mehr überprüft werden. Auf die Beschwerde ist im Verfahren nach Art. 108 BGG nicht einzutreten.

Auf eine Kostenauflage kann ausnahmsweise verzichtet werden.

Demnach erkennt der Einzelrichter:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.

Es werden keine Kosten erhoben.

3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Obergericht des Kantons Solothurn, Strafkammer, schriftlich mitgeteilt.
