The Federal Tribunal dealt with a constitutional subsidiary appeal in a debt-enforcement matter. After being ordered to pay an advance of costs of CHF 2,000, the appellant filed a brief stating that he renounced the case because the fees were too high. recours constitutionnel subsidiaire contre l'arrêt de la Cour des poursuites et faillites du Tribunal cantonal du canton de Vaud du 3 août 2007.
Vu :
l'acte de recours du 10 août 2007;
l'ordonnance présidentielle du 22 août 2007 impartissant au recourant un délai de cinq jours pour verser une avance de frais de 2'000 fr.
l'écriture du recourant du 25 août 2007, aux termes de laquelle il "renonce à cette affaire, les frais étant beaucoup trop élevés";
Considérant:
que l'octroi de l'assistance judiciaire s'avère d'emblée exclu, faute de chances de succès du recours (art. 64 al. 1 LTF), celui-ci ne répondant manifestement pas aux exigences des art. 116 et 117 LTF en relation avec l'art. 106 al. 2 LTF;
qu'une réduction du montant de l'avance requise n'entre pas non plus en considération, dès lors que ce montant a été fixé, conformément à l'art. 65 al. 2 LTF et au ch. 1 du Tarif des émoluments judiciaires du Tribunal fédéral (RS 173.110.210.1), en fonction de la valeur litigieuse;
qu'il convient donc de traiter l'écriture du recourant du 25 août 2007 comme un retrait de recours, d'en prendre acte et de rayer la cause du rôle (art. 73 PCF par renvoi de l'art. 71 LTF; art. 32 al. 2 LTF);
que les frais doivent être mis à la charge du recourant (art. 5 al. 2 PCF par renvoi de l'art. 71 LTF; art. 66 al. 1 LTF);
Par ces motifs, le Président de la IIe Cour de droit civil:

Prend acte du retrait du recours et ordonne la radiation de la cause du rôle.
2.
Met un émolument judiciaire de 300 fr. à la charge du recourant.
3.
Communique la présente ordonnance en copie aux parties et à la Cour des poursuites et faillites du Tribunal cantonal du canton de Vaud.
