ricorso contro la sentenza emanata il 10 settembre 2008 dalla I Camera civile del Tribunale di appello del Cantone Ticino.

Considerando:
che A.________ è insorto al Tribunale federale contro la sentenza 10 settembre 2008 con cui la I Camera civile del Tribunale d'appello del Cantone Ticino ha respinto una domanda di ricusazione del Pretore della giurisdizione di Mendrisio Sud;
che con decreto presidenziale del 19 novembre 2008 il ricorrente è stato invano invitato a versare un anticipo spese di fr. 2'000.-- e di designare un recapito in Svizzera con l'avvertimento che in caso di inottemperanza le notificazioni del Tribunale federale possono essere omesse o avvenire mediante pubblicazione in un foglio ufficiale;
che con decreto pubblicato nel Foglio federale del 7 aprile 2009 (art. 39 cpv. 3 LTF) al ricorrente è stato concesso un termine suppletorio di 15 giorni per provvedere al versamento del predetto anticipo;
che il 20 maggio 2009 la cassa del Tribunale federale ha constatato che il richiesto anticipo spese non è stato pagato né accreditato sul suo conto postale e che non le è pervenuto alcun avviso di addebito di un conto bancario o postale;
che in queste circostanze il Tribunale federale non può entrare nel merito del ricorso (art. 48 cpv. 4 e 62 cpv. 3 LTF);
che giusta l'art. 108 cpv. 1 lett. a LTF il Presidente della Corte decide in procedura semplificata i ricorsi manifestamente inammissibili;
che le spese giudiziarie seguono la soccombenza (art. 66 cpv. 1 LTF);

per questi motivi, la Presidente pronuncia:

Il ricorso è inammissibile.

2.
Le spese di giudiziarie di fr. 500.-- sono poste a carico del ricorrente.

3.
Comunicazione alla I Camera civile del Tribunale di appello del Cantone Ticino. Un esemplare di questa sentenza si trova a disposizione del ricorrente presso il Tribunale federale.
