The Federal Supreme Court refused to enter into a constitutional complaint filed by X. because no final cantonal decision was identifiable in the submission and the pleading did not satisfy the federal reasoning requirements. Das Bundesgericht zieht in Erwägung:

X.________ wandte sich mit einer als "Beschwerde wegen unerlaubten Handlungen gegen meine Person" bezeichneten Eingabe vom 17. Februar 2002 an das Bundesgericht. Dieses teilte ihm mit Schreiben vom 26. Februar 2002 mit, seine Beschwerde stehe offenbar im Zusammenhang mit einem Nichteintretensbeschluss des Untersuchungsrichteramtes III Bern-Mittelland vom Juli 2001. Eine staatsrechtliche Beschwerde - um eine solche würde es sich vorliegend wohl handeln - sei erst gegen letztinstanzliche kantonale Entscheide zulässig. Ein solcher Entscheid sei jedoch aus seiner Eingabe nicht ersichtlich. Ausserdem genüge die Eingabe den Begründungsanforderungen gemäss Art. 90 Abs. 1 lit. b OG nicht.

Mit Schreiben vom 14. März 2002 teilte X.________ dem Bundesgericht sinngemäss mit, dass er an seiner Beschwerde festhalten wolle. Ausserdem ersuchte er um Gewährung der unentgeltlichen Rechtspflege.
Das Bundesgericht verzichtet auf die Einholung von Vernehmlassung.

Die staatsrechtliche Beschwerde ist, von hier nicht zutreffenden Ausnahmen abgesehen, nur gegen letztinstanzliche kantonale Entscheid zulässig (Art. 86 OG). Ein solcher Entscheid lässt sich den Eingaben des Beschwerdeführers nicht entnehmen. Ausserdem genügen die Eingaben den Begründungsanforderungen von Art. 90 Abs. 1 lit. b OG nicht (vgl. BGE 127 I 38 E. 3c mit Hinweisen).
Auf die staatsrechtliche Beschwerd kann somit nicht eingetreten werden.

Angesichts der offensichtlichen Aussichtslosigkeit der vorliegenden Beschwerde kann dem Gesuch um unentgeltliche Rechtspflege nicht entsprochen werden (Art. 152 OG). Somit hat der unterliegende Beschwerdeführer die bundesgerichtlichen Kosten zu tragen (Art. 156 Abs. 1 OG).
Demnach erkennt das Bundesgericht
im Verfahren nach Art. 36a OG:

Auf die staatsrechtliche Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.
2.
Das Gesuch um unentgeltliche Rechtspflege wird abgewiesen.
3.
Die Gerichtsgebühr von Fr. 500.-- wird dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.
4.
Dieses Urteil wird dem Beschwerdeführer, dem Untersuchungsrichteramt III Bern-Mittelland und der Staatsanwaltschaft III Bern-Mittelland schriftlich mitgeteilt.
