The appellant withdrew his public law appeal against the Lucerne Administrative Court’s decision concerning administrative traffic measures and a request for free legal aid. The Federal Supreme Court therefore discontinued the proceedings and ordered that no costs be levied. The order was issued under the written procedure.
Art. 32 Abs. 2 BGG; withdrawal of appeal and discontinuance of proceedings; when an appellant withdraws the appeal, the Federal Supreme Court strikes the case off the roll without substantive review. In such a situation, the court may order that no costs be charged. The dismissal by way of removal from the docket follows directly from the withdrawal and renders the merits moot (consid. 1-2).

dass X.________ mit Schreiben vom 24. August 2007 seine Beschwerde vom 22. Juni 2007 zurückgezogen hat;
dass das Beschwerdeverfahren somit als durch Beschwerderückzug erledigt abzuschreiben ist;
dass keine Kosten zu erheben sind;
im Verfahren nach Art. 32 Abs. 2 BGG verfügt:

Das Verfahren 1C_171/2007 wird infolge Rückzugs der Beschwerde abgeschrieben.

Es werden keine Kosten erhoben.
3.
Diese Verfügung wird dem Beschwerdeführer sowie dem Strassenverkehrsamt und dem Verwaltungsgericht des Kantons Luzern, Abgaberechtliche Abteilung, schriftlich mitgeteilt.
