VETERANS MEMORIAL COMMISSION - CREATION, POWERS AND DUTIES
                  Act of Feb. 29, 1980, P.L. 39, No. 13               Cl. 86
                                  AN ACT

     Creating the Veterans Memorial Commission as a temporary body to
        develop detailed plans for the creation of a State Memorial
        honoring Pennsylvania servicemen and to submit a report of
        its findings, recommendations and proposed legislation to the
        General Assembly.

        The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     hereby enacts as follows:

        Section 1.  There is hereby created a temporary commission to
     be known as the Veterans Memorial Commission for the purpose of
     developing plans for the creation of a State Memorial at the
     Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in honor of Pennsylvania
     servicemen.
        Section 2.  The memorial commission shall consist of six
     members as follows:
            (1)  The Adjutant General.
            (2)  The Secretary of General Services.
            (3)  The Executive Director of the Pennsylvania
        Historical and Museum Commission, who shall be the chairman
        or chairperson.
            (4)  A member of a veterans organization appointed by the
        Adjutant General.
            (5)  A member of the House of Representatives to be
        appointed by the Speaker thereof.
            (6)  A member of the Senate to be appointed by the
        President pro tempore thereof.
        The members of the commission shall serve without
     remuneration.
        Section 3.  The memorial commission shall have the power and
     duty to develop detailed plans including site, size, costs and
     other similar relevant items and facts germane to the creation
     of a State Memorial. It shall present its findings and
     recommendations together with drafts of necessary legislation to
     effectuate the same in a written report to the General Assembly.
     Upon submission of such report or the expiration of two years
     from the effective date of this act, whichever is earlier, the
     commission shall expire.
        Section 4.  This act shall take effect immediately.
