Ala. Admin. Code r. 800-6-4-.01 Payroll Deduction Of Cost

The cost of coverage, or premiums, shall be deducted in equal installments from each employee's paycheck. Employees paid by twelve monthly paychecks shall have the total annual premium deducted in twelve equal installments. Employees paid by nine monthly paychecks shall have the total annual premium deducted in nine equal installments. Employees paid more than once per month shall have a proportional amount deducted from each check.

Ala. Admin. Code r. 800-6-4-.02 Remittance Of Cost

Each employer shall remit deducted premiums to the PEEHIP administrative staff monthly. Premiums must be prepaid and, thus, premiums must be remitted by the employer by the first of the month for that month's coverage.

Ala. Admin. Code r. 800-6-4-.03 Employees On Leave

Employees who are on authorized leave of absence without pay for three months or more shall remit quarterly premiums in advance for each full quarter of such leave. For each period of authorized leave of absence without pay of less than three months duration the employee shall remit the full premium in advance. The employee shall mail the premium directly to PEEHIP and the employer shall certify that the employee was on authorized leave of absence.
