Court of Appeals, State of Michigan
ORDER
TENISHA HAMPTON V GREGORY JONES
Docket No. 378703
LC No. 17-163353-DP
Christopher M. Murray, Judge, acting under MCR 7.211(E)(2), orders:
In a pleading received by this Court on January 15, 2026, defendant included information
demonstrating that he receives need-based public assistance. As this was received within the 21-day
period to seek reconsideration, MCR 7.215(I)(1), the Court treats this as a motion for reconsideration of
the December 26, 2025 order, and the motion is GRANTED. To the extent that order denied defendant’s
motion to waive fees, the order is VACATED. The motion to waive fees is GRANTED for this case only,
meaning that this Court’s filing fees are waived.
As explained in this Court’s prior order, to the extent defendant seeks a waiver of transcript
production costs, that is a matter to be addressed in the trial court. Defendant is reminded that, pursuant
to MCR 7.205(B)(4), he is responsible for providing this Court with the necessary transcripts. “If the
transcript is not yet available,” defendant “shall file a copy of the certificate of the court reporter or
recorder,” and then “file the transcript with the Court of Appeals as soon as it is available.” MCR
7.205(B)(4). Defendant must cause the filing of a stenographer’s certificate for the necessary transcripts
within 21 days of the date of the Clerk’s entry of this order. Failure to do so may result in the dismissal
of this appeal for failure to pursue the case in conformity with the rules. MCR 7.201(B)(3) and MCR
7.216(A)(10).
