The appellant in a social insurance appeal requested relief from the obligation to pay an advance on costs. The dispositive consequence is procedural termination without examination of the substantive appeal grounds.

Considérant en fait et en droit :
que N.________ a interjeté un recours en matière de droit public contre un jugement du Tribunal cantonal des assurances sociales du canton de Genève du 12 avril 2007, dans la cause l'opposant à l'Office cantonal de l'emploi du canton de Genève;
que par ordonnance du 16 mai 2007, le Président de la Ire Cour de droit social du Tribunal fédéral a invité le prénommé à payer, jusqu'au 30 mai 2007 au plus tard, une avance de frais d'un montant de 500 fr.;
que le recourant a demandé la dispense d'avancer les frais de procédure;
que par décision du 5 juillet 2007, la Ire Cour de droit social du Tribunal fédéral a rejeté la requête d'assistance judiciaire et imparti au recourant un nouveau délai aux fins de s'acquitter de l'avance de frais fixée par l'ordonnance du 16 mai 2007;
que par écriture du 17 juillet 2007, le recourant a déclaré retirer son recours au motif qu'il n'avait pas été dispensé d'avancer les frais de procédure;
qu'il sied dès lors de radier la cause du rôle, sans frais (art. 66 al. 1, seconde phrase, et al. 2 LTF),
par ces motifs, le Juge instructeur, vu l'art. 32 al. 2 LTF, ordonne:

La cause 8C_256/2007 est rayée du rôle par suite de retrait du recours.
2.
Il n'est pas perçu de frais de justice.
3.
La présente ordonnance sera communiquée aux parties, au Tribunal cantonal des assurances sociales de la République et canton de Genève et au Secrétariat d'Etat à l'économie.
