Considérant:
que l'arrêt attaqué confirme une décision rendue le 18 août 2010 par la justice de paix intimée, présidée par la juge de paix Y.________, décision requérant la désignation d'un avocat d'office en faveur de X.________ dans le cadre d'enquêtes ouvertes à l'endroit de celui-ci en interdiction civile, en placement à des fins d'assistance et en limitation de l'autorité parentale sur sa fille;
que dans son recours en matière civile, le prénommé fait valoir que la juge de paix en question avait déposé plainte pénale contre lui, de sorte qu'elle ne pouvait plus lui désigner un avocat d'office;
qu'il ne ressort toutefois pas du dossier que le recourant se soit prévalu de la partialité de la juge de paix dans le cadre de son recours à la Chambre des tutelles;
qu'il ne démontre d'ailleurs pas avoir soulevé une telle exception devant cette autorité;
qu'il s'agit donc là d'un moyen nouveau irrecevable en vertu de l'art. 99 LTF;
que pour le surplus, le mémoire adressé au Tribunal fédéral ne contient aucune motivation répondant aux exigences des art. 42 al. 2 et 106 al. 2 LTF;
que le présent recours doit dès lors être déclaré irrecevable en procédure simplifiée selon l'art. 108 al. 1 let. a et b LTF, aux frais de son auteur (art. 66 al. 1 LTF);
par ces motifs, la Présidente prononce:

Le recours est irrecevable.
2.
Les frais judiciaires, arrêtés à 500 fr., sont mis à la charge du recourant.
3.
Le présent arrêt est communiqué aux participants à la procédure et à la Chambre des tutelles du Tribunal cantonal du canton de Vaud.

Whether the appellant's bias allegation against the justice of peace was admissible before the Federal Court
The bias argument was inadmissible because it was a new ground not shown to have been raised before the cantonal court.
