Visto:
che con sentenza del 9 marzo 2010, in parziale accoglimento della petizione introdotta direttamente in appello da B.________, la II Camera civile del Tribunale d'appello del Cantone Ticino ha condannato A.________ al pagamento di fr. 902'594.20 oltre interessi;
che il 30 aprile 2010 la soccombente è insorta dinanzi al Tribunale federale con un ricorso in materia civile volto ad ottenere, previa concessione dell'effetto sospensivo al gravame, la modifica della predetta sentenza nel senso dell'integrale reiezione della petizione;
che la ricorrente ha versato l'anticipo spese di fr. 11'000.-- entro il termine assegnato;
che con osservazioni del 12 maggio 2010 B.________ si è opposta alla concessione dell'effetto sospensivo al ricorso;
considerando:
che con lettera del 25 maggio 2010 il legale della ricorrente ha comunicato al Tribunale federale l'avvenuta composizione della lite, dichiarando nel contempo di voler ritirare il ricorso;
che, stando a quanto indicato in questo scritto, trasmesso via fax anche agli avvocati della controparte, "in base agli accordi, eventuali spese di procedura restano a carico di chi le ha anticipate e le ripetibili vengono compensate";
che in siffatte circostanze la causa può venire stralciata dai ruoli, conformemente a quanto previsto dall'art. 32 cpv. 2 LTF;
che per le spese giudiziarie si rinvia all'art. 65 cpv. 1, cpv. 2 e cpv. 3 lett. b nonché all'art. 66 cpv. 2 e cpv. 3 LTF;
per questi motivi, la Presidente decreta:

Si prende atto del ritiro del ricorso e la causa 4A_242/2010 è stralciata dai ruoli.
2.
Le spese giudiziarie di fr. 1'000.-- sono poste a carico della ricorrente.
3.
Comunicazione ai patrocinatori delle parti e alla II Camera civile del Tribunale d'appello del Cantone Ticino.

The appeal was withdrawn and the case was struck from the docket.
Once counsel informed the court that the dispute had been settled and the appeal withdrawn, the matter could be removed from the list under Art. 32(2) LTF.
