X.________ filed a civil appeal to the Federal Supreme Court against a cantonal judgment ordering eviction in a tenancy dispute. Before the Court ruled on the merits, he withdrew the appeal by letter of 19 March 2010. The presiding judge therefore ordered the case struck from the docket under Art. 32(2) BGG and charged court costs of CHF 500 to the appellant.

The case was stricken from the docket because the appeal had been withdrawn.
The appellant submitted a letter withdrawing the appeal; under Art. 32(2) BGG, the court ordered the case removed from the docket.
Allocation of court costs after withdrawal of the appeal
Court costs of CHF 500 were charged to the appellant.
Because the appellant withdrew the proceeding, the court imposed the judicial fees on him.
